Question by Pam: Where can a family of four go on short notice?
We had a vacation planned in Wisconsin Dells for the week around July 4th. With the recent emptying of Lake Delton we had to cancel, now we can’t find anywhere to go. We would prefer a cabin with water activities. We have tried Branson Missouri and there is nothing available.

Disney World. TONS of water activities there.
A beach house along the Gulf Coast is a possibilty, too (rented by the week and some of them are incredible places). Go to http://www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner).
have you tried the state parks alot of the have cabins as do alot of campgrounds
Have you thought of the North GA Mountains of Blue Ridge. It is a great vacation destination.
I have a cabin rental (3 bedrooms and 3 bath) but it’s only available for the nights of July 3rd and 4th (the rest of July is pretty much booked).
There is so much to see and do:
Ocoee River – White Water Rafting, Kayaking
Lake Blue Ridge and Lake Nottely – swimming, fishing, picnics
Toccoa River – tubing, fishing
Blue Ridge Marina – jet ski and boat rentals
Aska Adventure Wilderness Area – hiking and biking
Horseback riding, golf, sightseeing, antique shopping
Swan Drive-In Movie Theatre and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
There are many cabin rentals in the area to choose from depending on your needs and desires.
My cabin is a luxury mountain cabin with all the ammenities (satellite TV, DVD, plasma TV, upscale Log furnishings, game room, hot tub and fireplace on screen porch).
I’d love for you to check out my website for a time when I have availability:

Bears Den Luxury Cabin Retreat
Providing Luxury Lodging in the North GA Mountains
And since you are looking for a weeks stay, you could try this site:
HomeAway – http://www.homeaway.com
It will have many cabins to choose from in the Blue Ridge area.
Good Luck!
Many of the resorts on the former Lake Delton are still open. Sure the lake is gone but all the other attractions will be there in the Dells minus a few directly linked with the lake. I would keep your reservations if I were you. A good educational experience for the kids, continue to support the economy of the small resort owners.

Good luck on your vacation where ever you go!
why did you cancel your trip to the dells?
we just got back and its business as normal the floods only really affected the lake all other attractions are going good.
we rode the boat tours and they took us right up to the spot that the hwy broke off .
the only attraction thats being affected is the tommy bartlett show they just arent doing the waterskiing part of there show and i guess they extended there stage show..
